Trip to Italy - 2017

ONCE UPON A TUSCANY... October 8-14 2017

 

Have you ever wondered what is like to wake up in the morning to the sound of birds, swallows chasing each other playfully in the air? The smell of fresh coffee and vistas out of your windows to warm your heart and keep you content all day long?

Giuliana and Deborah will take you along for an adventure of the senses in Tuscany, right outside of Siena.

Deborah will teach us her simple and gracious ways in preparing delectable dishes, and we will also learn from local chefs to create the regional and authentic flavors of the Tuscan cuisine.

Our tour will enfold as following:

Oct 8th
Arrival in Florence (FLR airport) Pick up by private shuttle and transfer to our Villa. Our pick up will be at 2:30 p.m. Plan your arrival accordingly or should you arrive early you may want to grab a taxi and see a bit of Firenze. Our arrival to the Villa will be followed by a warm welcome dinner.

Oct 9th
Breakfast, tour of the old side of the villa and our first master cooking class by our very own Deborah Quinci. Today we will learn about old grains which are very popular in the Tuscan region’s cuisine. Lunch and after our afternoon break we will go visit a local winery.
Dinner in the Medieval jewel of Siena and back to the Villa. Buona notte. B~L~D

Oct 10th
Breakfast and traditional pasta making class. Today we will learn to prepare homemade pasta from two great connoisseurs and teachers. In this class taught by local chefs we will be instructed on how to make special sauces to accompany our freshly made noodles. After lunch we will visit an award winning winery in Montalcino, the home of the Brunello wine (Giuliana’s

very favorite wine). Dinner together at a renowned restaurant in Montalcino and transfer back to the Villa.

Oct 11th
Breakfast and morning walk. Visit to a local cheese making farm followed by a cheese tasting and light lunch.
After lunch we will go to visit the city of Siena, only a short distance from our Villa. Time to explore and shop or simply take in the glorious sites, dinner on our own in the city and back to the Villa

Oct 12th
Breakfast and second master class by Deborah Quinci. After lunch we will go visit an organic olive oil farm. Be ready to be impressed by the old fashion olive oil production of our great friend Mauro.
Afternoon visit to Castellina in Chianti, dinner there on our own and back to the Villa.

Oct 13th
Breakfast and second master cooking class by local chefs. Today we will concentrate on antipasti and secondi . After lunch we will visit the splendid jewel city of Pienza. We will walk through history and beauty and return back to our Villa after a light dinner/aperitivo style.

Oct 14th
Breakfast and FREE day in Siena. Today you get to explore the city of Siena, climb the tower of Mangia, see the splendid gothic Duomo, visit the civic museum and more. We will meet later in the afternoon for a rendez- vous and we will go back to the Villa to journal and take it all in.
Time to pack, rest and get ready for our flight back home.

Oct 15th
Early shuttle pick up and transfer to the FLR (Florence airport). From this experience in Tuscany Deborah and Giuliana will collect pictures and memories that will end up in complementary book you will hopefully cherish for a long while.

COST OF THE TRIP: $4200 (dbl room) $ 4500 (sgl room)
The price of this tour is per person, based on two people sharing a room.
